This project is a particular favourite of ours. Not only did we get to work with a lovely family, we got to un-cover the true beauty of this old cottage. Part of a terrace, the owners knocked through from their house next door, to make the two cottages into a larger home. It had been rented out for some years, and was looking a bit sorry for itself. There was damp in some of the walls, wood-chip on the walls, and in need of a lot of TLC.
We approached the project room by room, starting with the upstairs bedroom, then the kitchen-cum-bootroom (this is the second kitchen in the home, used as a boot room, and sometimes entertaining kitchen), and finally on to the stairs/landing and study.
It took a lot of hard work and dedication from the family, and the SGH team, to bring the cottage back to life. Working together we created a home which truly reflected it’s owners. This has been one of the happiest and most satisfying SGH projects.
