Tucked away down a leafy private road, is this lovely Victorian cottage. Cottage belies its size, as additions have been made over the last Century, and so now it is a substantial family home. It belongs to a very busy, growing family, and it needed a bit of TLC to suit their lifestyle and contemporary tastes. Nothing superfluous; functional, simple, hardwearing – but also warm, cosseting and inviting.
The sitting room before
And after. We changed the chimney, and installed a wood burning inset stove. New flooring was laid, and although we kept the curtains & blinds, we changed the sofas to a contemporary but comfortable shape, in grey wool. Walls are painted in Farrow & Ball Cornforth White.
The master bedroom before
And after. The walls were painted ‘Fuji’ by The Paint & Paper Library, and we designed bespoke cabinetry to make the space as functional as possible. The over-size chest of drawers is painted in ‘Manor House Grey’ by Farrow & Ball, and the blinds are in a Romo fabric. Accessories by The White Company and Neptune.
And the snug, before
And after. Painting the window frame made a huge difference to the feel of the room. Again, bespoke cabinetry was fitted to make the space really functional, and a bespoke solid oak desk. The lights are Task by Original BTC, and the walls are painted Slate II and IV by The Paint & Paper Company.
