Front doors

A few weeks ago The Tall One took a trip around Europe – driving from Leeds to Venice in a 15 year-old Astra estate, in order to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (see more here), so the rest of SGH de-camped to Robin Hood’s bay. The weather was amazing, and The Small One and The Littlest One had a great time on the beach, building sandcastles, burying feet in the sand, fishing in the rock pools – until The Littlest One ended up in Whitby A&E (great staff, thank you so much Whitby A&E).

Anyway… we drove home through Forge Valley, where we stopped  at a lovely cafe/restaurant (whose name we can’t remember!) with this window.

Nice isn’t it? A bit further on we found this house.

Which started us thinking about exterior architecture. We LOVE door-chat. Or Door Porn. Is that an OK term? What we’re trying to say is that we LOVE looking at other peoples’ front doors. They say a lot about a person… the first impression anyone gets about you is your front door. And there are some really very gorgeous front doors out there.

This isn’t so much a front door, as it’s the old Coast Guard station at Robin Hoods Bay, but isn’t it gorgeous?

What does the SGH front-door say about us? Eek! Perhaps not a question we want to answer! It says authentic, honest, busy (too busy to paint the porch anyway)…

We replaced our front  door (see previous post here) about 2 years ago, and we’re so glad we did. We got the door from an online company – there are some great ones out there. Getting your door online means you can easily browse the different styles to pick up inspiration. Try Todd Doors – they have a range of external doors including solid oak and more contemporary styles. So you can chose a door to reflect your style and personality.

What does your front door say about you? Post it here if you dare!
